Rachel McNaughton - Watercolour Poppyfield - Saturday 5th October 10.00 – 11.30 am

Let Rachel guide you through the steps to create your own watercolour landscape. Create a simple sky and an impression of trees in a landscape of a cornfield spangled with scarlet poppies.

No previous experience necessary

Ian Smith - 'Paint your Pooch’  Saturday 5th October 12 noon – 1.30 pm 

Bring a photo of your pet, such as a head shot, and have a go at drawing or painting it in a contemporary style using marker pens and watercolour.  Please don’t bring your pet itself as there is little room! Suitable for beginners and people with more experience, the aim is to have fun and capture some of the character of your pet. 

Ian Smith is a local mixed media artist painting in a bold and loose style.

Katy Small - Felted Picture workshop. Beginners workshop in wet felting your own wool painting 

Saturday 5th October 2 – 3.30 pm

Create your own piece of felted artwork in just an hour. Even if you are an absolute beginner, you can create your own artwork made from felting wool fibres. 

Known as wet felting you can produce a ‘Wool Painting’  Learn this ancient craft to create your own unique artwork for your home. You can take home your picture or product with you directly after the workshop. 

Katy Small is your tutor for the workshop. She is a felt artist, maker and teacher who exhibits in Yorkshire and you can find her at many village halls, crafts fairs and festivals. She lives in Collingham. Katy was a secondary school teacher for 24 years before taking the plunge in 2022 to set up her own art and craft business. She is a member of Artists Around Wetherby and the International Feltmakers Association

Ailsa Read - Acrylic Seascape painting – Sunday 6th  - October  12 noon – 1.30 pm 

Have a go at painting a seascape with local artist Ailsa Read using acrylics. 

Ailsa Read lives and works in Yorkshire and her paintings are somewhere between contemporary and traditional, based on detailed observation, but also in trying to convey the spirit of the sea as the last wilderness.

Clare Dean  - Create a wire robin and/or reindeer Christmas Decoration  - Sunday 6th October 2:00 – 3:30 pm 

 

Are you looking for that unique Christmas gift or Christmas decoration to give a loved one, why not make your own Robin(and or Reindeer) by simply manipulating and weaving wire with your own hands.  

Clare is a mixed media artist who enjoys most creative activity but is primarily known for her acrylic meadow paintings with palette knives.  She runs workshops and is inspired by her love of gardening and nature.

Lauri Bower - Autumnal Paper Collage Workshop  - Sunday 6th October 10 – 11.30 am 

As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, join in an enchanting Autumnal Paper Collage Workshop. This one and a half hour session offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of paper collage, whether you're a seasoned artist or a curious beginner. Gather your creative spirit and embark on a journey through the colours and textures of nature, celebrating the season's changing hues and textures. 

The tutor, Lauri Bower, will guide you through the art of paper collage, a technique simply using paper, scissors, and glue. Lauri has been playing with paper for many years and can be found at local Artisan fairs and markets as well as Artists Around Wetherby Open Studios.

This workshop is open to all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a beginner eager to try something new or an experienced artist seeking a fresh perspective, everyone is welcome.
